I was diagnosed about 18 months ago with CLL/SLL. It took a few months for me and my doctor to realize that I had normal blood counts and normal bone marrow aspiration. Therefore I have SLL but not CLL. I know that one day my lymphocyte count may rise to the occasion for CLL.
I am glad there is the forum for SLL without CLL or not yet CLL. Although I have learned much from the CLL crowd, it is my understanding that up to 30% of SLL cases never become CLL. The bad news is that the prognosis and treatments and predictors are very similar to those with CLL.
I am interested in communicating with anyone like me who is early stage SLL without signs of abnormal lymphocyte count or bone marrow infiltration. There are some treatment options available to us that you do not pick up from the CLL forums and that are obscure in the literature.
Anyway, I hope others write in.
Sincerely,
Joseph from Atlanta, Georgia, USA
